Tips for Succeeding in an Online Course
Course activities vary for each course, but there are some tips that apply to all courses:
- Read and understand the course syllabus and schedule. You are expected to adhere to all deadlines in the schedule. Schedule time every day to work on your course assignments.
- Check Blackboard course announcements and e-mail at least every day and preferably twice a day.
- Use the course discussion boards frequently to ask course-related questions and read those posted by your peers. Reserve e-mail for personal business with your instructor.
- For courses that include printable online lectures, print the lecture slides and take notes as you listen to the audio. You can listen to the audio as many times as you like, but you need to listen to all of the audio. Otherwise, you will be missing important information.
- Please do not procrastinate and get behind. Procrastination is a primary reason students do not perform well in online courses.
