Dr. Scoggins teaches several courses in the department, including Herbaceous Landscape Plants I & II, Floriculture Crops and Public Gardens Maintenance and Management I & II as well as the online Greenhouse Management course. She is the faculty advisor of Pi Alpha Xi, the honor society for Horticulture. She is the Director of the Hahn Horticulture Garden, a three-acre teaching, research, and outreach garden located on the Virginia Tech campus.
Her research interests include root-zone management (fertility and media testing) of floriculture crops and new cultivar introduction of herbaceous perennials. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Plant Nutrition.
She received her Ph.D. in Horticulture from North Carolina State University in 1999 and M.S. in Horticulture from the University of Georgia in 1996. Her B.S. is also from the University of Georgia.
