Dr. Redican’s appointment is in the School of Education in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. He has been a faculty member at Virginia Tech for 24 years. He has taught undergraduate and graduate classes in public health and health promotion. He has been actively involved in development, implementation, and evaluation of primary prevention programs in various settings, including schools and communities.

He is a co-author of three textbooks, Health Today, Organization of School Health Programs, and Dimensions of Consumer Health, and has over 50 publications in health journals. He also has also served as the principal investigator or co-principal investigator on more than $700,000 in grants and contracts.

In addition to teaching and scholarship, he has been active on boards of directors, both elected and appointed at all levels, local, state, and national. He has consulted on a wide range of school and community-based health programs.

Dr. Redican received a Ph.D. in Health Education in 1976 from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, an M.S. in Public Health in 1972 from the University of California at Los Angeles, a Ph.D. in Health Education in 1976 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, an M.P.H. in Health Administration in 1986 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel-Hill, and a B.A. in Health Education in 1971 from California State University, Long Beach.
