Dr. Eick’s research focuses on the kinetics and mechanisms of trace element adsorption/desorption reactions on mineral surfaces. This includes the influence of residence time on the desorption kinetics of trace elements from mineral surfaces and the effect that specifically adsorbed cations and anions have on the organic ligand promoted dissolution kinetics of minerals. Ultimately, this information will allow better predictions of the bioavailability of trace elements in natural environments.
He received his Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Delaware and his B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
