Dr. Brewster has a research and teaching appointment in Quantitative Ecology and Information Technology (IT). His teaching interests are in ecology and information technology. He developed a course on Information Technology in Agriculture and is responsible for the ecology section of a new course, Behavior and Ecology. He also is a co-instructor in a college-wide graduate level course, Research and Information Systems in the Life Sciences. Dr. Brewster is also developing a web-based concept mapping tool for assessment of classroom instruction and student learning.
The focus of his research program is the development of management strategies for entomological pests using geospatial technologies, such as remote sensing and geographic information systems, and quantitative methods. Areas in which he has conducted research include precision agriculture, and the dynamics of forest pests, mosquito vectors, and insects of forensic importance.
He received a Ph.D. in Entomology in 1996 from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida.
